House of the Dead, Cheater at Every Sport

I have just finished an intensive week-end of doing Jack and it has been enlightening.

I have been generally watching two programs simultaneously; I would have watched more but the remote only has a “goto previous” button. You can’t put a bunch in a stack and rotate thru them. Well, you probably you can but I have no idea how to program such a thing and when you’re “blobbing” without wanting to put your glasses on to read the remote, or sit there f’ing around with it for 15 or 20 minutes until you give up anyway then I just put in the two channels I want to watch and punch back and forth between them. Once, I find the back and forth button. This usually requires “muting” the TV, going thru a menu of adjusting the picture and hitting a few buttons that don’t seem to do anything.

But I am happy to report that I have watched a number of movies that I probably would never had seen were it not for my blobbing. Among them was House of the Dead, Paycheck, and a bunch of bits and pieces of movies about big snakes (Boa, Python, Pytons 2, Python vs Boa) but I stopped when they said they were going to show Snake King. You don’t suppose the Sci-Fi channel was trying to capture the mood of the country enthralled with the newly released movie Snakes on a Plane do you? I did this while watching other useful stuff like The History of Concrete on the History Channel or watching Tiger Woods win the PGA Championship.

Speaking of golf it is amazing to watch these guys. Even one of the announcers said he once got a 73 on his home course and these fellows are knocking down 65’s and 66’s on a regular basis. When I play golf I consider myself lucky if I get one or two good drives or second shots in a round. If I get two shots in a row I figure I’m a champion.

My wife made the comment to the kids the other day that I’m “A cheater at every game”; it was funny like an appellation on a business card: Rick
